Parrot Sanctuary Residents

Some of the parrots were transferred from other rescue groups, some were owner surrenders, some were found by people and when the owners couldn’t be found, were turned over to Ruffled Feathers Parrot Sanctuary. Below are some of their pictures and brief stories. Not pictured are the flock of parakeets, the pigeons, and some of the other parrots.

Sarah is a female Indian Ringneck Parakeet who was found on someone’s porch in Phoenix. She was turned in to the sanctuary when her people could not be found.

Charlie was surrendered by his family when they felt they did not have enough time to spend with him.

Jack, previously known as Gonzo, was surrendered to the Sanctuary when his person felt she could not handle him any more. He does tend to bite when he feels like it, but we keep his environment fairly quiet so he does not become over-stimulated. Bitings are few now.

Rainbow is a shelter transfer Amazon. He is cage-guarding, but when he is with me without other parrots around, he likes to sit on my lap, and will sometimes ask to be petted.

Buddy is one of 16 cockatiels who call the parrot sanctuary home. He was surrendered by his people because he did not get along with their other bird. He is settled in and enjoys like with his flock.

Some of the other tiels. They looked crowded, but they aren’t. I was just able to get them when they were close together.

A few of the 10 parakeets and 5 finches who live at Ruffled Feathers. Many of the keets are shelter transfers, and the finches are surrenders.
